As you may or may not already know, I came home a little early.
A couple days of surfing in chilly/rainy Byron Bay was enough to learn and enough to want to surf more, but I was ready to come home.
All it took was a 12-hour overnight bus, 24 hours in Sydney, and a 26-hour airplane/airport journey back. I was nice to myself and stayed at the Swissotel Sydney, right in the middle of the CBD above the 7-story Myers store (there were guys on the roof testing fly-fishing equipment!).
All in all it was an awesome trip. I’m having a little bit of culture adjustment coming back, with pet peeves about things here in the States:
- Metric. Let’s just go metric. KM and Celsius are easy to get used to and everybody else is using it. Pounds to KG would be tougher I think, but it’s a smaller number– that’d have to make people feel good at least for a while!
- Tax included on prices. This is by far my biggest pet peeve in the States. Just list the real price. Then we could finally get rid of pennies.
That’s all for now, really. Other things could be better, but I’m honestly glad to be back on the right hand of the street and eating decent Mexican food.
I will post pictures during the next week– I took about 600 or so.
Cheers!
Dave
